Solid first effort.

Near peak second effort.

My favorite. Finally heard a great record in real time. In 1996 in Leipzig.

And more great remixes. The other double album, more like triple album.

Some more gems, collected later on if I recall.

Side projects included Tosca and Peace Orchestra. All decent top notch stuff. Whole other side of my taste. Never much mentioned it to anyone, since I rarely met anyone who was aware of it, much less actually liked it, meaning electronica, stuff like this, chill out, so on, so forth. I mean, I dabbled in that scene a little, but it was about the usual: freaky deaky hedonism, which I hate.

Most everyone else was like indie rock or punk rock. That's it. Proud of it. A few at least liked classical music too. A couple were reasonably knowledgible, even.

One fella, who never got any attention, much less credit, because he kept to himself mostly over at the Green Apple Annex, Scott from Maine. He was one of my very favorite people. I think we both fiddled around with Lindsey Detweiler. Never spoke of it. Probably rolled our eyes. The pretty younger poet girl. Whatever.

He was the only one I can remember that even remotely got it, and he was a dj that nobody paid much of any attention to. Very talented. Played in Tenderloin basements often. I only bothered to go once, but I did not regret it. Mary Goree – an important island just off of Ghana, I think – and I went and had a great time, even though we didn't take drugs (she a recovering junky and all). No. We just supported our friend. Once.

I don't think I went out with Mary on a single other occasion. I had my reasons. She was a handful. Worked like an animal, two jobs, knew a lot of famous people. Dated some of them. Would have dated me, probably. We'd often say nothing to one another, just make the Marc Horton hand gestures of sticking a gun in our mouth and one to the temple, just, in Marc's words: 'just to make sure in case one fails'. Nobody's killed themselves. Yet. I keed. I keed.

I guess I was simpatico with junkies back then already. Never touched the stuff. Coke either. I mean, these drugs are for fuck ups and yuppies, after all. They support murderous multinational criminal syndicates that should be ruthlessly massacred by the state. Like, Nazi-style.

You'd have to be a real Fucking Asshole to give a penny to the filth of the planet. But people do. They do it all day. Every day. Even smart and cool people in San Francisco do this shit. Whatever. That's what I always said to myself at the 'Nancy Reagan' party for instance, when drug fiends got wind of it and stormed the joint. Uh, doy. Whatevers. Gotta say.

Most Californians wilt under pressure. At least that's my surmize of the ones I've met, by in large. They fuckin' pussies compared to Philly people, certainly. But even compared to your garden variety Mennonite. They're very delicate people. Very special, designer, couture hand-crafted (insert jerkoff motion) motherfuckers. I mean, how much patience is one to have?

I'm done with those with whom I haven't been able to pick up contact by now. I mean, they're all conventional professionals now. With kid or kids. Fine, some people it actually appears to improve, which is genuinely great. For them. Upper, sometimes upper upper middle class. Sometimes rich. Sometimes wealthy. One might be a billionaire by now.

They're almost certainly more boring and more bourgie than they were. Not all. A few are as good as they ever were. That's where the ambivalence comes in. I've long silently maintained that most couples make each individual considerably worse. Not always. I've seen a good half dozen complementary pairs, over the years. More exception to the rule, tho. As for the others? Fuck 'em. Rich people? They suck! I have enough rich cronies to last me two lifetimes, by now.

Give 'em Hell Harry Truman, who was mobbed up to the gills by the Pendergast Gang out of KC, was a hardcharging motherfucker. He nuked the Japs. For instance. Cut the Republicans balls off a couple times – Dewey Defeats Truman – and fed them to them as hors d'oeuvres.

My American grandfather hated his guts, because 'he'll never give a businessman a break!' FUCK BUSINESSMEN! And I am one (allegedly). More for tax purposes, but that's neither here nor there. Here's a brief synopsis of that story, according to Wikipedia.

"During his 1948 re-election campaign stop in Bremerton, Washington, a supporter shouted out, 'Give 'em hell, Harry!'" The former president, who nearly went broke because there wasn't much of a presidential pension back in the 1950s – haww – said this. 'I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they think it's hell'. Couldn't have said it better myself.

It's small wonder so few people nowadays want to remember me. They know what I know, and they want to forget. Like the cowards they are. But I remember. I remember what they were. And probably are, for that matter.

Mary's friend Steve with an Italian surname I don't remember was in graduate school with me. Copy edited all of his papers. From B's to A's, overnight. He did my bullshit Excel spreadsheets with these fucking formulas. Got A's on those. Thanks to Steve.

He was a jailbird. Lifelong felon, more like. Got raped. We'd study in his halfway house in the Mission. Lotsa stories. Traumatized, but focused. One of his fellow criminals would ask him how his 'turd-cutter' was doing today. It was his favorite joke. It was meant to humiliate Steve and shock me. The second time he did it, I wanted to slap the fucking shit out of that slimy little faggot. I never let on. He said it half a dozen times. I stopped looking at that raped faggot after the third time. After six times, he cut out his 'turd-cutter' utterances.

Steve's family was connected going generations back. Politics. Even back to his relative 'Al the Wop' out in the old Chinese outlaw town of Locke in the Delta. The law. All the bullshit we were learning about in Public Administration, he took seriously. He was going to open a big non-profit with big money. Adami was the motherfucker's last name. Oh look, the motherfucker did it. Good for him. Gorgeous Gavin pardonned him in 2024\. And with the obligatory Dostoevsky quote right on the splash page. He was nuts, mind you. But focused. Very fucking focused.

There, now you learned something you didn't know. Just don't think you know much about me. I've got a million of 'em. This one was PG. I've written it before. Nobody knows anybody, because we are all nobody.
